Glance: Nicholls Expressway (NY 456)

Nicholls Road remains one of the more popular north-south roadways on Long Island. In Order to maximize its potential, it should be upgraded to an Expressway.

Beginning to L.I.E

Nicholls Road between Montauk Highway (CR 85) and the Long Island Expressway, is set mostly for freeway conversion. The Installation of Noise walls along the outer sections of the freeway, Closure of At-Grade intersections, converting the rest into freeway exits, and widening it to six lanes and the construction of BRT Lanes, one in each direction.

The Street North of the Long Island Expressway is a little more congested. Doing so would require ensuring minimal damage is done to the surronding areas. 

State Route Upgrade

Upgrading the road would also upgrade its status as a route. the CR 97 designation would be superseded by a new designation, NY State 456. I choose 456 because its near 454, and it keeps continuity with the roads in that area. 

Is it Possible

Yes, but yet, very unlikely. due to it passing through residential areas and a fire department.
