Update for Sunrise Highway (I-78)

I decided to revisit my Sunrise Highway proposal briefly to provide an abridged version of what I am hoping will be a more coherent argument.

Section One: Rosedale to Lynbrook

Revising and adopting portions of my Original Post, this version of Sunrise Highway would use a combination of existing alignment and ROW. Exits would be at the following

EXIT 24: Hook Creek Boulevard
EXIT 25: Green Acres Mall
EXIT 26: Mill Road
EXIT 27: Rockaway Ave
EXIT 28; Horton Ave
EXIT 29: Brooklyn Ave
EXIT 32: Merrick Rd

The Lynbrook Bypass would be revised.

I-78 would temporarily end at Ocean Ave.

Section Two: Rockville Centre to Freeport
Sunrise Highway would once more be an expressway from Morris Ave to Bayview Ave in Freeport. Road itself would be built along the current road for most of its duration.

Access to the Shopping Center near Grand Avenue would be closed, and an interchange would be built there.

Section Three: Merrick to Amityville

Utilizing ROW along with the current road, the road itself would be shifted slightly, with a four-lane Brooklyn Ave running parallel for much of the duration.

Section Four: Amityville to Southhampton 

Highway would be upgraded to Interstate standards and interchanges would be re-done in some areas.
