Overview: Grand Central Expressway (I-487) and Meadowbrook Expressway (I-487)

Currently one of the busiest parkways in New York City, the Grand Central Parkway connects New York City with the Eastern Areas of Long Island. To truly help benefit the traffic in New Yorkers, and Provide a viable alternative to the LIE, the Grand Central Parkway Should be upgraded to an expressway.

Grand Central Expressway: Exits 4-25

The Grand Central Expressway would follow the current Parkway's alignment, overpasses would need to be upgraded and replaced, allowing for trucks to pass. Replacement projects are already occurring, specifically the Overpass in the foreground, which is being demolished and replaced with a modern overpass.

Another benefit of a Grand Central Expressway is for trucks using the Clearview, giving them another path through the Island to get to points of interests.

Grand Central Expressway would continue along the Northern State Parkway

Interstate Designation

 With my proposed extension of I-87, the Grand Central Expressway would be designated as I-487. This designation would classify the route as a bypass.

Meadowbrook Expressway

The Northern State Parkway from Exits 25-31 and the Meadowbrook Parkway would also be upgraded, allowing for an additional North-South Expressway on Long Island.

The Road would end at Ocean Parkway in Jones Beach, which would serve as a de facto extension of the Meadowbrook Expressway.

An intersection would also be added at Jerusalem Ave
