THIS IS AN OVERVIEW, WHICH EXPLORES AND DISCUSSES PERSONAL PROPOSALS FOR HIGHWAYS AND/OR CROSSINGS.

Belt Parkway on NYCRoads
Sunrise Highway on NYCRoads
Atlantic Expressway by Jarrett Carter

OVERVIEW
This road would carry an upgraded Belt Parkway and a rebuilt Sunrise Highway to help alleviate traffic on the South Shore of Long Island. This is a description of what this roadway would be and what would have to be done to improve it.

BROOKLYN TO QUEENS BORDER
Belt Parkway as it approaches the First Exit in Brooklyn
Because of the Parkway's Design near the Verrazano Bridge, No Trucks would be able to use the Expressway until Exit 7 (Ocean Parkway). Truck I-478 would either run along 3rd Ave, 86th Street, Avenue X and Ocean Parkway (Prospect Expressway ?) or simply the Gowanus to 86th Street, Avenue X and the Ocean Parkway

From that point, Trucks would be allowed entrance. The Parkway would not change its configuration.

The Recently Reconstructed Bridges would be adjusted to allow for trucks. This should not be an issue despite their design. The Expressway would carry 3-lanes in each direction from here until Exit 17.
If the Bridges need to be replaced, there would need to be construction of two additional segments, making one span for cars, and one for trucks in each direction.

QUEENS MEGACLUSTER: JFK Airport to Cross Island

Sunrise eventually crosses into Queens. Presently, the Nassau Expressway only has a southbound lane near JFK. With the construction of a new set of lanes going Northbound, the roadway, a much bigger interchange would need to be built. The Nassau would go up the same ramp as the Cross Bay Boulevard/Conduit Ave overpass goes. The Expressway would serve as a extension of the Cross Brooklyn Expressway (I-878)
As for the remaining areas, since the clearances are Stone Arches, They would either have to be lowered or replaced with new stone arches, or standard overpasses found on most expressways.

SUNRISE HIGHWAY BEGINS: CROSSING INTO ROSEDALE, GREEN ACRES, AND LYNBROOK

Rosedale is the beginning of the extended highway. Currently, the Roadway veers to the North, but in this scenario, It would continue Eastward. The East and Westbound Lanes would elevate over what would be the ramp to an extended Cross Island Parkway.

The Exit list would also be apart of the extended highway. Exit 24 would be Hook Creek Boulevard. From here, It would follow the Roadway, with the construction of service roads close to Green Acres Mall. Eventually, The Roadway would veer In between the railroad tracks, where it Continues.

VALLEY STREAM TO LYNBROOK

Sunrise Highway as it Nears Peninsula Boulevard
From here, the road could be built one of three ways

1. Mirroring the Proposal by Jarrett Carter
2. Elevated over the Main Street
3. Cut and Cover

For this scenario, the best option may be building directly underneath the current roadway (Cut and Cover, Box Tunnel), which would deck the freeway beneath the existing street.

LYNBROOK TO ROCKVILLE CENTRE
Past Atlantic Avenue, the Roadway would once again follow the original alignment, with it being pushed slightly back to construct a Eastbound Service Road. The Roadway however, would once again be buried with a ramp for Exits 27 (Merrick Road and Ocean Avenue) and Exits 28 (Sunrise Surface Road) in Rockville Centre. The Highway will be buried as it reaches Rockville Centre. Trucks would once again, have to leave the highway.

ROCKVILLE CENTRE TO FREEPORT
Sunrise Highway Near Merrick Road (via Google Maps)

Near Hickey Field, the Roadway would re-emerge, now following the main roadway once again. A Service Road would be constructed on the East and West sides. Exits 29A and 29B would be accessible from this service road, which also includes a Rest Stop (The Speedway and McDonalds) and a continuation of the Service Road until Baldwin.

Exit 30 would be a diamond interchange, the roadway would be elevated with earth fill (or Landfill, Im not really sure), and access to the Shopping Center from Sunrise Highway would be removed. Exit 30 (Grand Avenue) would be the only way in and out of the Shopping Center.  Eventually the Roadway veers to the left as it enters Freeport.

FREEPORT TO WANTAGH
Sunrise Highway once again moves to the right-of-way. Here the highway is neither elevated or buried, 8-lane configuration with the LIRR moved to the East and NY 27 has already moved to the Main street. The Road passes the Meadowbrook Parkway (Exit 31) as a cloverleaf interchange and does the same at Merrick Ave (Exit 32). New interchanges would be built for the Wantagh Parkway (Exit 34).

WANTAGH TO SEAFORD
The Roadway is once again running along the current highway. Improvements are made with the intersection of the Seaford-Oyster Bay Expressway (NY 135, I-287?)

If a Long Island Sound Crossing is built, Many Trucks would be leaving the freeway from the Eastbound lanes going North to Rye. The Intersection would be made into a full Cloverleaf, with an overpass going over the Seaford-Oyster Bay Expressway.

SEAFORD TO MASSAPEQUA PARK
The Highway would be built below the current road, with a new street decked above it.

Eventually, it veers off as NY 27 (currently NY27A) heads off to Old Sunrise Highway. Following the main road.

MASSAPEQUA PARK TO LINDENHURST
Sunrise Highway would return to following the main road. In this area, comes the possible use of Eminent Domain. But, an elevated segway would be built between The Mall and Route 110. Afterwards, the highway is depressed with a Cut-and-Cover scenario resulting in the construction of a surface road. Such would be more beneficial to the communities as it allows businesses to be open. Any work in this area, regardless of the method, would result in road closures. The Roadway would eventually be reopened, but closures could result in only one lane in each direction, thus closing the road for a long peroid of time.
Another scenario mirrors the Baldwin situation, but the risk would be balancing the businesses in that area and side streets.
Once we approach the current start of the highway (Exit 37), we will not have to worry about much construction.
